자율주행차(Auto Driving Car or Self Driving Car)는 운전자의 개입 없이 자동차가 도로 상황을 인지, 판단하여 스스로 도로를 달리는 것을 뜻합니다.
아직 완전 자율차 상용화는 이루지 못했지만 세계의 여러 기업이 자율주행 기술 완성을 위해 노력하고 있습니다.
자율주행차가 주목 받는 이유
완전 자율주행이 실현된다면 우리의 생활에는 엄청난 변화가 일어날 수 밖에 없다.
사람이 운전함으로서 발생하는 교통 정체, 교통 사고 등이 감소하며, 물류와 차량 운송 부분에서 혁신이 일어나게 된다.
완전 자율 주행이 도입됨으로써 인건비 감소 뿐만아니라 운송 효율이 발생하게 됨으로써 물류비가 대폭 감소하게 될 것이다.
이것이 미래의 일이라고 생각할 수 있겠지만 생각보다 이른 시간에 우리에게 자율주행차가 다가올 가능성이 높다.
자율주행의 핵심 기술은 라이다, 카메라, 인공지능, 통신 기술이 직접되어 이루어 지게된다.
